On March 27, 2026, the energy company \u201cGren\u201d held a symbolic foundation stone ceremony in Salaspils Municipality for a new, high-efficiency 50 MW woodchip boiler plant. During the event, a time capsule containing a message for future generations was placed in the building\u2019s foundations \u2013 a symbolic testament to what we are building today for the sake of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project represents a significant investment in the development of Riga\u2019s district heating system, promoting the transition to local and renewable energy resources. The new boiler plant will help reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels while improving the security and stability of heat supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new boiler plant will be equipped with two 20 MW woodchip boilers and 5 MW flue gas condensers, resulting in a total installed capacity of 50 MW <\/em>and <\/em>ensuring high efficiency and minimal environmental impact. This technological solution ensures high fuel efficiency and minimal environmental impact, using state-of-the-art emission control technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commissioning of the boiler plant is planned for spring 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
