New biomass-fired steam boiler house for sustainable industrial production

Today, energy efficiency and the transition to local renewable resources are becoming increasingly important for manufacturing companies. Commissioned by one of the largest beverage producers in the Baltics — Cido Grupa — FILTER implemented a project aimed at modernizing the company’s steam production system. FILTER provided the supply, installation, and automation of the boiler house equipment:

    • A 2.7 MW steam boiler was installed (maximum pressure 13 bar, operating pressure 10 bar), providing steam production capacity of up to 4,200 kg/h.
    • The boiler is equipped with two rotary pellet burners (1.5 MW each) with power modulation from 20% to 100%. Fuel supply is fully automated from a 100 m³ pellet silo.
    • To reduce emissions, four ceramic flue gas filters with a pneumatic soot cleaning system were installed, together with an 18 m high chimney.
    • The equipment is controlled by Mitsubishi Electric automation with O₂ control, enabling optimization of the combustion process.
    • The system enables fully automated boiler operation and remote monitoring

The project has been completed, and the new boiler house is now fully operational. It provides a stable steam supply for production while reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 545 tonnes per year. The transition to biomass enables significant emission reductions without compromising production capacity, while also improving process stability.

    • 4,200 kg/h Steam capacity
    • 2 × 1.5 MW Rotary pellet burners
    • 545 t/year CO₂ emission reduction
