Design and Installation of a 10 MW Electrode Boiler at a CHP Plant

Within the scope of the project, FILTER provided a full-cycle engineering solution, from design to equipment commissioning and handover for operation. The project included the development of architectural solutions, structural design, electrical power supply design, and thermal mechanical system design, as well as the design of low-current systems, control automation, and gas systems.

During the project implementation, the delivery and integration of a 10 MW electrode boiler (PARAT, 6.3 kV) was ensured. In addition, water treatment equipment was supplied and installed, including a water softening unit and a make-up water tank. A circulation pump with a capacity of 22 kW and a 22 kW frequency converter were also installed. The project also included pipeline installation and thermal insulation of pipelines.

As part of the electrical power supply and automation solutions, a 6.3 kV medium-voltage switchgear was installed, electrical installation works were carried out, and automation and power distribution systems were implemented. A control system program was developed and programmed for the controller, relay protection settings were programmed, and a SCADA system was created and integrated. In addition, the project included securing the required power capacity increase from the high-voltage grid operator and establishing signal exchange with the operator’s data management center.

Additional civil construction works were performed, including demolition and reconstruction of an external wall, concreting of foundations for the boiler and auxiliary equipment, as well as demolition and installation of the gas pipeline.

At the final stage of the project, system commissioning, equipment testing, and handover for operation were carried out.

As a result, a 10 MW electrode boiler was integrated into the cogeneration plant, providing additional flexibility in heat production and enabling efficient use of electricity for heat generation when electricity prices are low. The solution improves the plant’s operational efficiency, reduces dependence on natural gas, and enables rapid power regulation according to heat demand.
